Braving a red lip | BLOGMAS

Welcome to Blogmas Day 8!

I’ve spoke before on my blog about how much I would looooove to rock a red lip but I just don’t have the guts, I don’t know whether it’s because I’m very pale or because I’m just very much stuck in my (very very comfortable) comfort zone of the nude lip. Regardless, today, a week in to December, is the day that I’m stepping out of my little bubble and braving a red lip!

Keeping in with the festive theme of Blogmas, I’m using my NYX Matte Lipstick in the shade Eden from my NYX Lippie Countdown Advent Calendar, you can read more about what I’ve got so far in yesterdays post.

In order to keep the look as simple as possible and not scare myself off the idea of a bold red lip I opted for a slightly defined crease and a winged liner. For my crease I used a mixture of Naked and Buck from the Naked 1 palette with a light sweep of Virgin, also from Naked 1, all over my lid. The liquid liner I’ve been loving at the moment is the Revolution Make-up Awesome Double Flick Liquid Eyeliner, this might even be overtaking my absolute love for the Collection Fast Stroke liner!

The fact this lipstick is matte caused me to be a little apprehensive due to how dry lips are (they suffer a lot in this weather), but it really really surprised me! It was super comfortable and wearable, the formula was very creamy for a matte lipstick meaning it didn’t at all feel drying on my lips but it lasted all day! I applied my lipstick at 7am, the photo used for this post was taken over 3 hours later after 10am and had not required a single touch up!

The lipstick is veryyyy pigmented, it certainly packs a punch! It’s a blue toned red which I think may be the reason I suit this much more than other reds I’ve tried in the past. If you have cool toned skin (pink undertones) this will be perfect for you!

I didn’t use a lip liner as I didn’t have a matching colour but I’d recommend investing in one for this lipstick, although you can wear it without one, it’s going to make application a lot easier!

I hope you’ve enjoyed this post! I’m actually in London right now so follow me on Instagram for London spam!
