I am soooooo excited to be writing another make up post finally!
But first, a little life update! I’ve got a lot of exciting things in the pipeline at the moment as I finally found out last week that I will be graduating from Teesside University with a First Class Honours Degree in Multimedia Journalism! Yaaaaaaaaay! My graduation is 18th July so expect a grad post very soon and prob a lifestyle kinda post about what I learnt at uni these past 3 years!
I’ve been focusing a lot on lifestyle posts atm, you can catch up on my last post, which included a video of what my boyfriend and I got up to on holiday here!
If I’m completely honest, I haven’t felt too passionate about make-up recently and I’ve been going out bare-faced 80% of the time. Which, to be honest, is a big deal for me because take me back a year and I wouldn’t even pop to Tesco without make-up on! Obviously, that means I’ve slacked on the beauty side to my beauty and lifestyle blog though and a lot of my most read posts are my beauty ones!
However, I’ve finally got my make-up mojo back and I’ve started wearing it more and more again (thankfully not just to go to tesco!) So I decided to write a post on a make up look that I’ve been loving for the warmer months 🙂
I’ve been using a mix between my two holy grail palettes, ABH Modern Renaissance (read my review here) and Too Faced Sweet Peach (read my review here). These two palettes compliment each other soooo much and I’ve been loving experimenting with the orangey shades of the two.
For me, when it comes to eyeshadow I’m such a shimmer lover, always have been always will be, howevvvver, for Summer (if you can call it that in England) I’ve been focusing a lot more on making my base dewy and shimmery, and instead going for a very blended out, matte eye look! Yes you read that right, matte eye look. I never thought I’d see the day I’d be swerving the shimery shades of a palette, I’m a new gal!
Firstly, to get that dewy glow I’ve been adding Nars illuminator in the shade copacabana to my foundation. If you wear Estee Lauder Double Wear you’ll know what I mean when I say it is MATTE, like… the mattest of mattes, which is great when that’s what you’re after, but for Summer I like to give off a bit more of a natural glow and this illuminator does this perfectly. I like to add a small, pea-size amount to my foundation and mix it together, just make sure you shake it first otherwise you’ll end up with the oil from the mixture and that is not the kind of dew we’re after!
After bronzing using my Estée Lauder Bronzed Goddess and contouring using the Make Up Revolution Ultra Contour I like to use the highlight shade from this contour palette to pop on to the end of my nose and cupids bow and then blend! For my cheekbones I use the Becca Cosmetics highlight in the shade Champagne Pop. I’ve found that champagne coloured highlighters work perfectly on the cheekbone for Summer, whereas the much more silvery toned products work better at catching the light on the nose and lip!
Now to the exciting bit, eyes eyes eyes! I begin with a mix of Raw Sienna and Burnt Orange from ABH as my transition shades, then going in with Summer Yum from TF in the outer third of my lid, to add more depth to the eye I take Purée also from TF and focus this primarily on the outer corner of my eye! To finish up the look I go in very loosely with Realgar from ABH using a fluffy brush! This look is super on trend with the peach/orange tones and it looks gorgeous with or without winged liner (yes… me without winged liner!!)
And finally, I’ve dug out an oldie but goodie for the lips, my trusty MAC Velvet Teddy (are you even a girl if you haven’t purchased Velvet Teddy at least once?!) The nude compliments the eyes perfectly and to give your makeup that last little bit of Summer glow I add a bit of Mac Cremesheen lipgloss in the shade Partial to Pink!
