Products Just Not Worth The Hype

As you may know if you’ve read some of my previous posts I often fall victim to reading bloggers reviews on products and then going out and buying them without giving it much more than a second thought and then sadly (for myself and my bank account) being a little let down when they turn out to be not worth the hype.

I decided to muster up a little post on some of the products that for me (emphasys on the me) were a waste of money and give some alternatives to hopefully make you think twice before falling in to the same trap that I did!

Everything on this list is purely just my own opinion 🙂

Nars Illuminator – Copacabana
You may have already seen me speak about this highlighter in this post. I spent a whopping £23 and was massively disappointed when the highlighter didn’t blend well and actually managed to take off my foundation. If you’re looking for a good highlighter you could try MUA Undress Your Skin Highlighter or if you’re desperate for a high end glow try Benefit Watts Up or MAC Soft and Gentle. (Don’t forget to try it first though!)

MAC Select Sheer Pressed Powder – NC15
This is a product I re-purchased for about two years before realising I was paying £21 for the name rather than the quality of the powder. I have since became a fan of the Rimmel Stay Matte for just £3.99, a fraction of the MAC price, and it does exactly the same job!

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer – Fair
This, I know, is a very unpopular opinion especially within the blogging world where the Collection concealer is more or less the holy grail of all concealers, or so I’d hoped. I know for the cheap and cheerful price of just £4.19 you can hardly complain but I’ve found that although the shades are good especially for brightening up around the eyes, that it creases almost instantly and leaves my delightful dark circles looking worse than when I started. I’ve started using Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer which is much better coverage for just over a pound more and lasts a lot longer. However even the lightest shade isn’t quite light enough to brighten my dark circles, so pleaseeee let me know some good concealers!! 😀

I hope you enjoyed this little post!

  1. Have you tried using an peach based concealer for under your eyes? The peach should neutralize your under eye colour and works best of fair skin. Then you can carry on with your usual foundation/concealer routine over the top (if this makes sense) xx
